Core supports are for use in (daily living) activities. Plans have a degree of flexibility for a client to choose their supports within their core budgets, but this funding cannot be reallocated into different categories. (i.e. capital or capacity building supports). We use Core Support funding to enable respite stays. Short Term Accommodation & Assistance, and Medium Term Accommodation is also funded through Core funding.
The category known as Capital building is an investment, in (assistive technologies) – equipment, home or vehicle modifications, or for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). Participant budgets for this type of support are restricted to specific items identified in the participant’s plan. The NDIS has established specific price guides for Assistive Technology and SDA.
Capacity building funding, enables a participant to build their skills and confidence to allow them to live a more independent life. Within a clients plan, goals are set, these budgets are allocated at a support category level (see next section) and must be used to achieve such expectations.
Some TAC clients may also be eligible to receive support from the NDIS
