STAA & Respite Accommodation

Short Term Accommodation, including respite, is support for when you need to live out of home for a short period.

Short Term Accommodation funding can be used for respite to support you, and your carers. It provides you with a different experience and a break in your day to day, it also provides carer’s with an important time out from their caring roles.

Short stays away from home will;

  • give you the chance to try new things
  • be a place to make new friends or develop new skills
  • help to maintain your current living situation by giving you and your support network a break.

Short Term Accommodation can be used if your usual support network is unavailable for a short period.

Short Term Accommodation can include many options and packages, including;

  • Personal care and attendance
  • Safe and supported accommodation
  • Meals and meal preparation packages
  • Activities and Adventures.

All options and packages need to be agreed to with you, the provider and Destination Accessible. This process will be finalised through an agreed and signed Service Agreement.

The NDIS will fund up to 28 days of Short Term Accommodation per year. The funding can be used flexibly.

Please contact your support coordinator, or [email protected] for further information.
